Nesting and Organizing

I think I am nesting. I have this overwhelming urge to remake every storage space we have into a better, more usable (and pretty) storage space.
So we have this closet upstairs. It’s a coat closet, which makes no sense upstairs, and we have stored extra coats in it, and a vacuum cleaner, and it had a ladder in it from the previous owners. Yes, I know that was 6 years ago, but I was lazy, and had no reason to change.
Anyways, here is the before. Please don’t judge the mess. Also, imagine a rod, which I removed.
I made the shelves out of wood I already had from a previous project.

Painted the shelves white with paint I had left over…
And then I got crazy. There is a picture in last month’s House Beautiful of someone’s entryway, which they painted in horizontal stripes. I LOVED IT! I wanted it for my own, but stripes? It’s so scary, and I am too chicken. Or am I? I did it. Stripes in my closet, that is, not my entryway.
Here it is! My new closet! My new STORAGE closet…and all with supplies I had on hand, so this makeover cost nothing!

What a fun, fun, fun idea! Reminds me of the strips on my linen closet door! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Joanna,You could give me a complex. Here I am all excited that I finally got around to painting my living room this week and your closets look better than most of my house! Yikes. You can't do things like this to us poor house wives.I just stopped by to check out your blog and see pictures of your sweet McKenzie… I doubt you remember me, but I am a friend of Joy's from Victory. The whole family has had fun sitting here reading your posts and seeing all the fun things you've done in your house. Gorgeous!Hugs,Kat
