Family Day…

One year ago today, our family of three was shown into a large empty room in a civil affairs building in Changsha. We were the only family waiting that day, which gave us plenty of room to pace around nervously…

After what seemed like forever, little M, looking out the window, said that she thought her brother was coming. I looked out the window, and saw our boy walking into the building.

A few minutes later, he was in the room with us!

He was terrified, and sad, and he didn’t know the woman who brought him to us that morning. His fear was heartbreaking to see, and we were so glad we had little M with us to help ease the way for him.

Little M gave him all the toys we brought with us, and he latched onto a firetruck book, and a little dog. When he started to cry we brought out some snacks, and learned that like our little M, food is the way to our boy’s heart.

We asked our questions, and shared our gifts, and little M fed baby J snack after snack to keep him happy.

Poor little thing… he had no idea what was going on!

Then, the paperwork was done, and just like that, we had our boy! What a year it has been!
