Down The Hall…

This weekend we were so excited to move out of ICU, and into HKU (heart and kidney unit). Getting out of ICU is always the first big step after heart surgery, and I was super relieved and hopeful after hearing we were moving after just a couple days, and we saw tiny P’s first little smile since surgery…

Most of all, I was looking forward to having a cuddle with my baby. Once those extra lines come out,  we can pick her up! Once the chest tubes come out, it will be even better, and that might happen tomorrow…

Tiny P got new oxygen line stickers, and I went home to spend time with my big babies while the husband settled in with tiny P.

Not much later, she was able to get her nasal cannula off, and move onto room air, another huge step forward…

But as is often the case with our tiny P, she like to keep us on our toes, and throw little surprises our way. While she was having her nightly bath her oxygen sats dipped pretty low. Then they dipped even lower, and she was gasping for air. We got her comfortable, and our nurse, A, tried a few things to get her oxygen back up. After an hour watching her and consulting with the doctor, they decided that to keep tiny P safe, she had to have that cannula put back in. Poor baby was so unhappy, but her sats are back in the safe range, and she is resting… We will see what tomorrow brings!

Praise God, Her color seems improved, especially in pics where she is wearing the cannula. Praying for her sats to go up. Such a precious little girl.
