Updating

Our immigration approval for our China adoption expires in a few months. Sooo, we need to do some updating! We met with our social worker on Sunday to start working on our homestudy update. This means that we will need new fingerprints, new background checks, new physicals, new driving records, and so on and so forth… It’s hard to believe it’s been eighteen months since we were approved by immigration to adopt from China.

Interestingly, our homestudy for Taiwan is six months old this month. The courts in Taiwan require that our homestudy be less than six months old at the time of our referral. Since we are still looking at several(hopefully not more) months before referral, we need to get that updated, as well.
So, over the next couple weeks, we will be busy with more paperwork, and with our social worker getting updates done.
I’m sad that we’re doing updates for two different adoptions, and we don’t have a referral from either one to show for it, but I am quite hopeful that we won’t have to update again anytime soon for at least one of them!

Hang in there… I know all too well update paperwork. This month marks 5 yrs trying to complete our adoption. We have done 5 physicals, 4 INS, 4 FBI etc., I do fine it very interesting of the 6 month rule, because I our HS was 10 months old when we received our referral, and by what you're being told that means you have to update your HS every 6 months until you receive a referral. Our HS expired 1 week after our court hearing, and they did ask for additional docs that was apart of HS work up, but everyone was being ask for those same docs.. who knows. Being in the adoption arena for so long, it think a tide is being turn in Taiwan, and I'm expecting Hague will be in place in the next 6 months for all agency. I do keep checking your blog for a referral, and I pray you get one very soon with all our updates!! Did they tell how much longer? You're in Cathwel orphanage, right?
