Some Monday Musings…

Little M is going through a dress/shorts phase. Really she wants to wear anything that will allow her to have “naked legs!”She has also been enjoying dance class, and loves the book Angelina Ballerina. She was especially enamored with a part where Angelina curtsies, and she asked so many questions about it that the husband finally found her a video online where someone is curtsying. Little M makes us curtsy several times a day. The other day, I made her wear pants, because she had worn dresses all week. At one point during the day I asked her if she wanted to curtsy, and she scowled at me and said “no mommy, I cannot curtsy with pants. I can ONLY curtsy with a tutu dress!” Mmmhmm, seems valid.

I thought we might be somehow fortunate enough to have missed the stage where little M asks “why” all day long. No such luck…it’s late, but it’s here. It seems that with her new found hearing, little M has become curious, and the “why” questions have begun. I didn’t realize that why questions can really go on indefinitely. Even when I say I don’t know little M just asks “why you don’t know?” When does this phase end?

The other day we had a lot of errands to run, and I told little M that while we were out she could have a special treat. She did a little happy dance, and said “special treats make me very happy!” me too, little M. Me too.

Little M usually gets up sometime between seven and eight in the mornings, but last week she woke a little earlier. The husband and I had had a late night the evening before, and so the husband asked her if she would like to play in her room for a little while, so we could rest a little more. Her reply was “oh yes. I am going to make a BIG mess!” And she sure did.

Little M is very caught up with who is big and who is little, since she has figured out that big people get to do things that little people can’t, and will ask us often if she is big or little, in regards to a certain activity (trying to find out if she is big enough to have soda, for example), and the other day she asked the husband if she was little, and he asked what she thought. She made a cute thinking face, and said “I think I have a big one.” When the husband asked her what was big, she replied “I have a big bottom. Is that funny?”

When we were at the mall this week, I told little M that we were going to do some shopping, and then we would eat lunch. She asked after EVERY store if it was time to get lunch, and then she finally grew exasperated with me and said “mommy, I am a big girl, and I am hungry!”

Little M is very caught up with the story lines in books right now, and has started applying them to her life, and it is hilarious! She loves the Llama Llama books, and we have four of them. In the books llama llama will often have some sort of melt down or whiny moment where he moans. Last weekend we were all shopping somewhere, and the husband left us to run into a store. While we waited for him, little M said “Mackenzie misses daddy…Ooooh, Mackenzie makes a little moan!” Ha!

She also still loves The Giving Tree, and will often quote bits of it while we are out. The other day I went to help her put on her shoes, and asked her to sit down. She said “the mommy said to sit down…and the Mackenzie did…and the mommy was happy. The end.”

Love this girl.

Wish I could say the \”why\” questions go away, but I don't think they do. Brady has graduated to \”how do you know?\” after EVERY.SINGLE.THING I tell him!! LOL Just have extra Diet Coke (or regular) around!! 🙂
