Put Your Cards On The Counter…

Do you know how long I have hated my kitchen counters? I know, hate is a strong word…I strongly dislike them…Ha. No, I hate them.

I have wanted to redo them for a while, but we have no idea what we wanted to change them to. Granite? Silestone? What? I have no idea, but one day we will decide, and it will be amazing.

In the meantime, I couldn’t stand this kitchen another day, and I decided that we could cheaply change things to make them more palatable, ha.

Our counters were some sort of laminate, with a wood trim. There was a large, and hideous green laminate backsplash, but I ripped that off a few months ago, and spackled and painted.

We bought some pine boards from Home Depot, and I seriously thought we could make new counters in a weekend…

It took a little longer than that (apologies to the husband, ha). But we got them done. Faux butcher block counters…but cheaper!

They are rustic, and dark. And rich, and pretty.

I think they are better than the laminate, and I am happy with how they turned out.

I still need to come up with a backsplash, and I have a plan for those floors, as well.

But for now, I am enjoying my “new” counters!

I really like your new counters too. They turned out fabulous. We're thinking of a kitchen counter/floor redo in the near future. I loath my counters BIG time. It's hard to make decisions. Thanks for the inspiration.
