Proud Of China…

Little M has always had a lot of questions about “her China.” We answer all of them honestly, and we always try to keep that line of communication open so she can bring it up anytime. She has asked about everything, from who had her in their belly, to what the weather was like when she was born. Some of the questions we know the answer to, but many of them we don’t know and we have to try to find out, and as the questions get harder, it gets harder to find the answers…

One of her favorite (and ours) to talk about is what we love about China. Little M was born in Xi’an, where the terra cotta warriors are, and we loved seeing them. We also bought several small ones when we were there, and one is currently part of our decor. Recently little M had a school project where she had to bring in an artifact from her family. They were looking for something that is a big part of our family’s culture, and she had to write about it and do a little presentation…

This is what we she wrote…

Did you know that the terra cotta warrior was smiling? It is from China. It is from the town where I was born. It became a part of my family in 2010. It was built a long time ago. It makes me feel proud of my birth country because the terra cotta warrior is really beautiful. When I get breakfast I see an artist who made it. It reminds me about China.

It made me tear! She’s proud of her birth country… so am I.
