Mackenzie Loves…(And 7 Month Pictures)

Little M has been home for seven months today, which totally amazes me, because it feels like just yesterday we were bringing her home; I remember it that clearly.

It seems that with every new week that passes we see a more secure little M. A little M who is more confident (and a little more bossy), and is starting to figure out what she likes and dislikes.
When we first brought her home, little M was unable to make choices, would take whatever food she was given and devour it, and rarely put up a fuss about anything.
We could see glimpses of a strong personality, and we knew it was in there, but we are just now starting to see her make choices, show preferences to certain activities, and she is figuring out that it is ok for her not to like something.

She is also figuring out that there are many things she LOVES, and says “like it!” and “favry” (favorite) when she finds something she loves.
Some things little M loves:
Little M loves the pool. Her whole body gets into the happy dance when she knows she is going to “go to water!”
Little M loves Mcdonalds. I know it’s disgusting, but sometimes we go for breakfast on our way to run errands… She calls it “M,” and when we pull in she says “M! Favry!” It’s too adorable for words.
Little M loves her panties. It turns out that the key to potty training is to get pink panties with cakes on them. It’s all she wants to wear, and the girl is pretty much potty training herself.
Potty training herself is my favry.
Little M loves her some bubbles. She gets giddy and breathless over them. She even pretends to blow them in the car while she sings “bubbles for Mackenzie…”
Tutus. Little M loves her a tutu. And it’s a word she says clearly, so there’s no doubt what she wants. If she were to choose her outfit every day, it would be a tutu.
When little M has a tutu on, she can often be found in front of a mirror saying “cute” over and over.
Little M still loves her food, but is starting to get a little more discerning, and has discovered that while she may have downed a whole plate of onion and shrimp salad in China, onions are not her favorite, and sweet things are ever so much better.
Little M has also discovered jewelry, and her outfit is not complete without a necklace, or four, to complete the ensemble.
Little M loves her babies and her toys, and she loves her “home.” We feel that her attachment to us is growing, and that she is truly growing in her love for the husband and myself. She is starting to understand that our names aren’t just “mommy” and “daddy,” but that we are HER mommy and daddy. She is still VERY outgoing and quite charming, and she most likely always will be, but she is starting to stay close to us, and keep an eye out for us when she is playing with other kids. All good signs of attachment, and we LOVE it!
