Hot Mess…

Don’t let that cute, dimpled smile fool you…he has been an emotional hot mess the past couple of weeks.

He is needy, demanding, whiny, and very emotional… and we have had some giant two-year-old-esque tantrums this past week. When I thought about it this week, I realized that he really is more like an almost two year old in a lot of ways, especially emotionally, rather than an almost four year old. If I remember that, I think we will all be happier…

It’s my job to remember that, because I am his mom. He didn’t have me for the first almost three years of his life, so he needs me now… to be there, to be a constant comforter, and to be on his side.

And even though the constant tantrums and whining are wearing on me, I know there is another little person, a six year old, who is constantly watching me to see what patient love looks like.

So, we’ll hang in there, and hope for the best…and pray that this is a phase, and that it passes quickly. Ha.
