Cake Face…

Last year, for little M’s second birthday, we ordered a cake party for her at her orphanage, and we were so excited to get some wonderful pictures from the woman who delivered the cake for us. Apparently, in China, it is tradition to smear icing on a child’s face. Something about good luck…

So, in the spirit of tradition, we decided to try it. We weren’t sure how little M would take to being “dirty”
But, she thought it was hilarious! Probably helped that everyone else was laughing and clapping…
Of course, just the icing was not enough for our girl. She had to add the flower.
She’s such a girl…
And even then, her dreams were not fully realized until mommy and daddy had flowers on their heads, as well. Oh yes. We did.

I love reading your blog! I lived in South Korea for 3 years and I ADORE Asian children. I plan on, one day, adopting. Most likely, as I am South African, I will adopt an African child. And I sincerely can't wait! I burst out laughing when I read your comment about the cake smearing. I think it is very much an Asian thing! In Korea, they even smeared grown ups with icing on their birthdays. Your daughter is beautiful!!
