Beads…

Each bead stands for one single event that happens to our girls while they are in the hospital, whether they are inpatient, or just there for the day. A yellow bead means they stayed overnight, black beads are for getting poked, there is a bead for surgery, and a glow-in-the-dark bead for echos…

It is a beautiful, colorful record of everything they have been through, and they love to look at their beads, and talk about each one.

Beads of Courage is an organization that works to provide these specially made glass beads to help children record, and tell their story of survival in a beautiful, tangible way. We love watching our girls’ pride in their beads, and we love that it gives them a way to take ownership and pride in their stories.

Oh, wow. What an amazing idea, but that's a lot of events. They are so beautiful and resilient!
