Visiting The Orphanage...

Today we visited the orphanage where our little boy spent the first year of his life...

He was less than thrilled, and had this face the whole time...

We didn't get to see the babies, since they are worried about the bird flu right now, but we visited some of the children in the Half the Sky program (which is also the program that little M was in, in her orphanage), and little M handed out stickers to the children in the pre-school...

She took her job very seriously, making sure that all of the children got stickers.

Visiting the orphanage is always hard, and heartbreaking, and eye-opening, and sad. The children are so affection starved, and the sight of the little ones we saw at little M's orphanage are still etched in my mind. I know I will never get the image out of my mind of the three boys we saw today tied into their little chairs in the middle of a room...

Seeing this makes me want to take all of the children home, and makes me so thankful for the children we have.

We only have pictures from a disposable camera of J's orphanage. It wasn't open to families to visit. I've often wondered how I would feel about going. Continued blessings. Hugs to you and your little ones.

You guys look great together. I know that must have been difficult, the visit. I am ready to be broken for the rest of the kiddos. Or am I? Hope the remainder of your trip is awesome!

Hi, Joanna.

Allen and I have been up in the mountains since last week with no internet or cell service. I told him you all should be heading to China any day now. Then we come home yesterday to see you have your sweet precious boy with you. We loved your first family photo together and have been blessed to catch up on the news of your journey. We are so encouraged to see the Lord answering our prayers for your family and will continue to pray for an easy adjustment for J and that the transition will also be easy for M. We look forward to meeting your son.

Love,

Kat

I'm sure this was a tough day for you all as well as God's reminder, in a way, that you indeed are not blessed to hold, embrace, love, care for and protect your son forever, through His grace and your answer to follow Him. There is one less orphan in the Orphanage and one more child in a loving family. The visions of those left behind are difficult, the visions of those children in country still waiting, are difficult, that is why it is so important to focus on our making a difference one child at a time. Blessings your way, may God's grace embrace you all. The picture of you all is just BEAUTIFUL!!!

Oh my, SORRY, the above first sentence was supposed to say:
that you indeed are NOW Blessed to hold, etc. Blessings, sorry again. Michelle
