Monday's Musings...

Little M gets funnier and sassier by the day...she constantly has us laughing, usually unintentionally, and will say "oh, was that funny?" when we burst out laughing.

I have a very hard time keeping a straight face sometimes, and we all know that once you laugh at a kid for something, especially if that something is slightly inappropriate...they will repeat it for. ev. er.

Little M loves her daddy, and we enjoyed having him home for many days during the holidays... one day those two were coloring together, and I heard the husband chuckle and ask little M why she patted him on the head. My heart melted when I heard her say "I pat you because I LOVE you!"

Little M loves her some sparkly girly shoes...at the moment, little M only has one pair of said shoes because she is a bit rough on shoes, and the sparkly ones never last long. The other day she wanted to wear these shoes, and I told her we were saving them for when she dressed up. She put her little hands on her hips and turned slightly so I could see the cape she was wearing, and said "I AM dressed up! Today I am dressed up like darth vader!"
Hard to argue with that logic, huh?

The husband and little M were doing a craft this week with perler beads, and the husband had made a fun design on a square. Little M leaned over his shoulder...
Little M: "Oh daddy, that's so pretty! It looks like an x-wing."
The husband: "I love you."

Last week I wasn't feeling well, and was resting on the couch one afternoon...little M was "fixing" my hair with her little hair toys, and the steady brushing was lulling me to sleep. Then I got a rude awakening...my eyes went wide open when I felt hairs being pulled out. I looked back at little M, who had ditched her brush for toy tweezers from her doctor play set. She smiled and patted my head. "That was a gray hair. You're welcome, Momma!"
She showed me, and it WAS gray...what could I do? I thanked her.

Little M loves school. LOVES it. She is like a little sponge, and I never know what new knowledge she will come home with...
On Friday, we were out to lunch, and she was looking at a picture on the wall that had a bunch of numbers. She said "momma, if you count up those numbers, you will get a thumb. ok?"
What??? "A thumb?" I asked, "NO momma, A THUM! It's addition, momma!"
Oh, yes, now I get it...a thum...

All of our recent discussions with little M about boundaries have led to discussing our bodies and privacy. Our girl has a little tendency to show people her chest...she's a bit obsessed with her chest.
We discussed that there are parts of our body are very private, and should not be shown to others...
We kept it simple, she agreed and seemed to understand everything we said.
Later we learned that we were less successful than we thought...
Later she was getting ready for her bath, and when she was undressed she turned to the husband, and said "Daddy! Do you see my prizes?" Hilarious... but giant fail... now she thinks her private areas are actually surprises. We corrected her, but I'm pretty sure we are going to be discussing "prizes" a LOT more! Ha!
