Nature And Udders...

Our nature loving girl has decided she has a new, but still natural, love...she is ardently declaring her love for farm animals.

But not just any farm animals. She loves them all, but her heart's desire is to spend time with one in particular. The cow. Not the cute chicks, or the fluffy sheep...you see, you can't milk those. And our girl wants to milk a cow.

She informed me of this desire while we were eating sushi for lunch one day. Just out of the blue she expressed her desire to milk a cow. Very seriously she leaned across the table. "Mommy. I would like to milk a cow boob. ok?" I choked on my sushi, and tried to process. Little M, assuming that I hadn't heard said loudly, "the cow boob, mommy, I would like to milk it. The BOOB!" And then I choked some more, giggled a hysterical giggle, and told her that it was called an udder. She thoughtfully considered this, and said "oh. I would like to milk that udder."

This is a conversation I can't say I ever planned to have with my four year old princess/queen. And if I had planned it, I would not have planned it while we were eating sushi, complete with little M acting out the udder squeezing action. It was not pretty.

It appears that we own a children's book (the tiny, tiny boy and the big, big cow) that I had not read. It has a little boy milking a cow, obviously. And now our little M really, really wants to milk her a cow. I see a farm in my future...have I mentioned how I am not a lover of the nature?

Have you ever thought of submitting Mackenzie's quotes to Parents Magazine? You could win a $50 gift card to Children's Place! I got the info for my cousin, but I'll share it with you, too. :-)

Thanks for writing to kidquotes@parents.com. We appreciate that you took the time to share your story with us. Make sure you included your full name, city and state, and child's first name and age so that we can run your submission.
