Worked Up...

This season is so fun, but also so crazy. Little M is so excited about every Christmas related thing that goes on, and is loving parties, plays, and santa.

She is handling disruptions in her schedule pretty well so far, and we are trying to be sensitive to her needs.

Little M's needs can sometimes be a mystery...she is almost always outwardly happy and charming, and even when she is sad, she gets over it so quickly.
At least on the outside. I sometimes worry about how our girl is doing on the inside. She doesn't look nervous or upset- she looks happy, but we often see nightmares and sleep issues after something exciting or overstimulating has happened. Sometimes she will be a little more clingy, needing to know where I am all the time, and not wanting me out of her sight.
We talk about feelings a lot, and we reassure her that no matter what, mommy and daddy always come back.

I love this little girl so much, and I want her to trust us so badly. I think an change in anyone's schedule is upsetting, but for a little one with past trauma, it can cause regression, and that is something we don't want.
So we have been taking it easy this season...for every busy day we have, we stay home and quiet the next one. We are spending lots of time cuddling and talking. We are enjoying this Christmas season immensely, just in a different way than we have in the past.

Sounds like you are doing everything right for your little M. We've seen some less-than-perfect behavior in Josie this week. The stress of last week's worth of funeral visitations and the funeral is leaking out in all kinds of strange ways.
